OCEARCH's Global Shark Tracker lets you observe the navigational pattern of sharks that have been tagged with satellite tracking technology. This image shows the path that a shark named "Gratitude" took over the past few months.
OCEARCH facilitates unprecedented research by supporting leading researchers and institutions seeking to attain groundbreaking data on the biology and health of sharks, in conjunction with basic research on shark life history and migration.
OCEARCH is a non-profit organization with a global reach for unprecedented research on great white sharks and other large apex predators. For the past several years state scientists have also worked alongside Ocearch, a Utah–based nonprofit organization that occupies an odd position within the scientific community – part publicity machine, part research facilitator. The crew itself is not comprised of scientists but of fishermen, who catch and tag sharks with telemetry tags that upload data to social media.
