I first came to Long Island in the mid to late 1980s and was immediately struck by the beauty and people of this most famous of islands. I married a Long Island guy in 1995 and we have lived in his home town of Northport ever since, where we are raising our three daughters.
Long Island is a very expensive place to live, and it's congested, and we might have a serial killer and the lobsters have died off. But Long Island is also stunning, and the people are amazing and the clams are still fantastic.
It also has an amazing legacy in the fields of science, engineering, technology and literature. Not to mention it's stunning natural beauty, as well as wide array of craft beers and wines.
